I figured pinstripes would be a great way to pay homage to Americas independence (four Betty Boop blinks)…. okay I’m lying. I purchased this blouse from Boohoo back in February and fell in love with it! Posting this look on the 4th of July is how the cards fell, but not intentionally. However, the holiday is nothing shy of monumental. Anywho, when I got my hands on this adorable top, I was shimmying with sass and attitude. There’s a thin line between “basic and simplicity” but I refused to do either with this hawt striped cold shoulder top. Initially I was looking for a pair of high waisted, red wide leg culottes in a dupioni material. It took me over a month to find someone to make them and when I did it took her forever to respond with, “I’m sorry Shenell at this time I don’t have your size.”After that I kinda digressed. A flared skirt would have bored the heck out of me, denim shorts would have been too simple to introduce this look, and basic nickle-bobs wouldn’t have been exciting enough, however all options were fair enough. I personally, needed charming bright or even a killer print. One day while searching fashions in Africa I ran into Mangishi Doll and saw this bad high waisted, frontal zipper pencil skirt (My first garment from Zambia). I knew it would be the perfect fix for my top. Seriously- stripes and African print? This look is giving me print heaven! I’d have to say, my love for African garments is 98% due to their rich vibrant prints and thick material. Keeping your African prints modern and chic is key to elevating any simple garment to fashion high. As a plus size blogger I pride myself on finding you guys pieces that every other blogger isn’t wearing, you deserve to travel fashionably abroad. Now let me shimmy on to the BBQ in my perfectly customized fitted skirt, while you shop the look while saving 60% off at Boohoo for a limited time. You are #noprisonerofyourbody so walk the runway fiercely and fearlessly. See you next runway!
An adjustable zipper is dangerous ladies lol
