A New Day with Gucci

I was devastated when I read Merona and Mossimo would no longer be a brand name for Target. I just knew the Victoria Beckham collection was the last collection I’d purchase. After being introduced to Target’s new designers, I’m glad to say my devastation was yesterday’s news and cheers to “A New Day”. Target has done a great job up-ing the fashion racks with their new designer brand, A New Day. The collection launched August 27th and I’m far from disappointed. I have to admit the collection is definitely tailored to prim and proper, framed with a high end appeal and enhanced with details like never before. I’m actually feeling the vibes of Tar-zhaay at its best. Target who? Which leads me to why I fell in love with this amazing two-piece suit. If you’re looking for something to upgrade your office attire this fall and winter, this is a must have! As for myself, I can count the number of two pieces I have in my closet, so this was a great additive. My other motivation is the red stripped staple of Gucci. Lately, I’ve been salivating over the 2017 Gucci look-books. They are colorful, vibrant, whimsical, retro, hippie- simply unicorn-ish with a taste of cotton candy on top. I was so inspired by the collection, I was beginning to have dreams of styling myself, with Gucci being the cornerstone of my inspiration. Needless to say, I had to buy the Gucci Dionysus bag I’d been eyeing for a while. Then, I waited patiently for the perfect outfit, this was it!

September 7th I walked into Target and spotted this design from the main aisle. It immediately put me in the mind of Gucci. The red and blue strip along the cuff of the blazer and red trim going down the leg was definitely Gucci runway-without the Gucci tag, Winning! It has a wool-tweed texture with a hint of gold shimmer. I knew exactly what I was gonna do with this look. Now, because I wear such a vast sense of styles, one can never pinpoint me. I figured it was about time I threw you for another fashion loop. You love it, I’m sure. I was ready to have fashion fun non-stop. I imagined I styled for Gucci and this piece rolled into my office. I thought, WWGD- What Would Gucci Do, when Shenell’s in control? I added a bright orange polka dot button down to lift the color scheme from conservative to eclectic. By trade, I’m an artist, hence I translate color differently from other bloggers. Using this color palette, I created a tetradic color scheme- meaning, I used 4 colors and chose orange as the dominate color (The focal). I knew it would have the perfect juxtapose position to the olive green and navy-blue contrast. I feel so good about this look! The look is so dramatic and unusual. No need to stop there, I accessorized pretty aggressively by adding gators to my neck (look closely the eyes are emerald) and an authentic silk scarf I got on a business trip to Beijing (Check out the Geisha women posing). I topped this look with bloody shoes (Christian Louboutin) and my Gucci (Dionysus) bag. Now place me in a Gucci ad. You are #noprisonerofyourbody see you next runway! xo
