Bad and Boujee

Is it me or can I speak for all of us when I say “I am all kinds of over the winter season” spring, where are you dear? On a brighter side, hibernation hasn’t exactly been torture, it most certainly has given me time to stack up on some spring 2017 inspired pieces. All I can say is this spring seems to be a bit bored with the basic waist.  Waistlines are making some boisterous statements this year and I am here for all of it! From the dainty high waist wrap around bows, utilitarian paper bag waist, to the killer sharp fold over waists, will literally have you never looking at a zipper and button again, and lets not talk about waistbands-DEAD!

I call this outfit “A Premeditated Slay” this fold over skirt is nothing shy of a murder weapon and the crime gets no cleaner than this. This is by far one of my favorite outfits! When I’m styling I aim for fluidity. Onlookers should visually float from top to bottom and drift off into the stream. I bought this skirt last summer and struggled with how to style it. Let’s just say the moment had to be right and the time is now. I played with a monochromatic blue base, the best choice to keep it soft and sweet. This is a prime example of being visually fluid. Besides, a bold color could potentially create conflict, rather than compliment. This is something you want to be careful not to do, too busy can be revolting. This sexy ASOS skirt needs no help with standing out and clearly this uber cute embellished ASOS top agrees.

To add insult to injury, I had to finish this look with these ridiculously fabulous poof classics. You might wonder why I chose mauve? The pink mauve breaks up  the blue monotony- creating a softer appeal to the midnight blue. Personally, I look at pink and blue as opposites and we all know sometimes they attract. The skirt is so fun and flirty, it can definitely be dressed up or down with pumps, your favorite pair of Keds, slide ins or even a tank top.  You are #noprisonerofyourbody so walk the runway fiercely and fearlessly. See you next runway!

Strutting Tips

1. Some say when in doubt wear black, I say be monochromatic.

2. When you want to wear a monochromatic look and have a need to break up some of the colors, color block with a compliment color.
