In Ah- Line Ment

Hey Girl, yes, can you believe we are literally in December. It seems the year started in slow motion  & within a snap is was enigmatic. Gosh, this year was a journey. I can not say I’m ready to step out of this year, but I am hoping I’m equipped for next. This year definitely aligned people we were all forced to step out of our comfort zones. For some, it was the biggest breakthrough of their lives and for others, it was mere heartbreak. Either way, you must trust the Father. I do. Speaking of alignment, this blouse, these pants, this look! Yeah, it’s a bit more on the simple casual work side for me. At the same time, I...

Django Who? She’s Shadow

Black is the sexiest color ever! I saw this jacket at Eloquii and was getting all kinds of feels. It has so much character and you can do so much with it; throw on a fitted skirt, slacks, wear it open, closed, or even do a slogan tee or turtleneck, again so much. The jacket being the baddie that it is, I wanted to tap into that militant persona it held. After doing so, I couldn’t see past the feminine/masculine trend I knew I needed to commit to! Am I the only one who believe women are the sexiest when adding a male’s touch? I attribute this to the genic hybrid of the Wo-man. This fashion trend speaks to the...

Classic Irreverence

People often ask, how would I describe my style? I always respond unpredictable. Fashionably, I will replace unpredictable with the style trend, show-off. Showing off is exactly what I’m doing in this outfit. I have this philosophy; one can risk being forgotten unless you show off. One of the things I like most about this look is the color pop of mauve and the large black and white plaid panels. Anyone who appreciates a good clean color pallet would agree, if they don’t remember your name, they will describe this outfit-color first. These are simply not colors you see all the time, together. Strutting these Akira pompom pumps lures you into the classic irreverence trend, I so love. Mixing style trends...

The Black Women’s Expo: Beauty, Branding, & Blogging

I wasn't the perfect panelist for The Black Women's Expo.. so I thought. When I was asked to join the panel for such a huge event I gave the side eye. Then to make it even more troubling, the focused topic was blogging & how to make it a successful business( oh lawd). I struggled with whether or not I qualified for this  topic at this time. Blogging and success did not quite calibrate on my scale as equal parts. Calculating how much I’ve invested versus how much I’ve profited seem to be more reason why I should not speak. Blogging is a difficult and time consuming job, even more so when you’re turning a passion into a business. My...

Latte- Extra Foam

Spring apparently don't mess with us like that anymore. According to Instagram, I wasn't the only one surprised to see snow in the forecast. It was a bother, but let's just call me an opportunist in this instance. After attempting to throw a temper tantrum about the weather, a light bulb went off over my head and I turned that frown into a smile. I was so giddy to wear my scarf and boots (Click Here) . Open toe boots are such a problem for me in harsh winter and it was looking unfavorable to wear this look with my Zara scarf I bought in late November, so the opportunity presented itself once again. The look was all about fluffy layers...

Brim Meets the Neck

So, this look is fairly basic. There are no abstract prints, rocking fringe or over accessorized novelties. What makes this look a magnet of interest is the analogous color pallet (colors directly beside each other on the color wheel. In this case mine are blue, purple and fuchsia), extremely chic frame work and how the brim meets the hat. Now, lets talk mysterious, shall we? Often times people feel one must have all the bells and whistles to emerge mystic. If that is you, allow me to redirect your thinking. Structure and fabric exaggerations are chosen’s as it relates to a more discrete description of mysterious. Alexander McQueen mastered this art. In the beginning of his career his textiles were extremely...

Curvy Wakanda

Although this look does not echo through the lands as African and neither does it mapquest me to my long-lost tribe, you can not deny its glory or boldness, like the people of the safari and my long-lost tribe. This ensemble screams black (in every form of its meaning), regal, profound, powerful and rich. It was the perfect fit for my welcoming to Wakanda. So, I decided to pay homage to histories first, all-black Marvel, with a curvy slayish dinner and movie meet & greet. I wanted to hone in on and captivate a rare experience. Undeniably, Black Panther, was a long overdue production- not just for the diaspora, but for the world. February 16th Black Panther made history to...

Forbidden Fruit

Dressed like this, I feel  I have beamed from the confines of my 1800's Victorian home and landed in America, specifically Chicago. The look is so vintage and very old world British, which wasn't intentional, (ig's @joannethescammer voice) honestly, truly. Perhaps my unexpected embark on the Victorian era style sense, bares all the proof that Target is becoming more and more classic within their design layouts. Target's fall fashion naturally takes us back in time, with a modern twist. I say encore! To be completely frank with you, I knew I liked this snake print blouse and faux skirt together, but after styling it, "Like" was an understatement. I am in fashion love! Considering I decided to coordinate the same...

Victoria Beckham -Cape Daisy

You want classic? Well I think you've found it. Victoria Beckham was definitely in for creating timeless, soft, & eye catching pieces. I believe this was by far my fave! Talk about bringing the outdoors in, in this case lets say putting the outside on. Victoria Beckham really captured the art of femininity through nature, by playing with Earth's most beautiful asset, flowers. I dare to say you'd find these pieces in the closets of  Twiggy & Audrey Hepburn back in the 50s and 60s. It's the perfect heirloom because of its modern swing. The entire collection blossomed with preppy adorable brights & clean patterns all watered in sass. Speaking of blossoming & sass, does this skirt love me or...
