Hey Girl,
Its been a few weeks since I’ve returned to blogging. I hope I haven’t disappointed you. I’m pretty proud of what I’ve been bringing. So, as you can see, I decided to go the casual route. This is not my typical style sense. I usually feel under-dressed every time I attempt to curate a casual look. This time, not so much.
If you haven’t already seen it, I posted a sneak peak of my fit the other day. The feedback was filled with great energy, although, there was a comment that caught me off guard. It was something along the lines of, “Shenell, you look like a spy or even detective.”Ahaha, I am not exactly sure where that idea came from, but several people said it. By no means did I feel like a spy. However, in retrospect, I guess in the vaguest way this style could render a, “Where in the world is Carmen San Diego” vibe. Honestly, I wanted to be casual, urban-street, and chic. The outfit is about having lunch with friends, while at the same time, it’s all about shopping alone afterward. She is solo, she is tribeless, and she is completely good with that.
I was really aiming for a very layered outerwear look. Why wear one jacket when you can wear two or three? Layering outwear, like clothing, allows you to play with texture, dimension, and height. This is basically another scenic route to creativity. I had fun! The utility top-which does disguise as a jacket, was a perfect pairing with the faux leather biker jacket. This displayed total edginess. The trench speaks high fashion and style freedom. Understand, it is not worn to cover but to support and partner. The long length forces the eye upward, allowing onlookers to pay attention to the shorter leather jacket and distinct utility top. From there, the rest is history. Throw on some faux detailed leggings for that added edge, a lux bag, and seal the deal with a lux boot.
