Modern Romanticism

“When you’re fluid & solid at the same dang time!

Scientifically;

My matter changes with the environment

Divinely;

I’m indestructible!” -Shenell

Girl! I know I’m always claiming a look is by far by fave, but this time I’m for real! I finally styled my Fia Factory top as my heart desired. It’s a beautiful seasonal piece and full of character, so I wanted to fashionably take it to a place that was most fitting.  After contemplating, I knew it needed layering to accomplish a chic and even foreign appeal, besides I did purchase it from Lagos, Nigeria honey. Most recently, I wore this look to a birthday party exactly as I had imagined it. From the time I walked in, to the time I left, I received compliments.

After putting this look together, I felt like I had catapulted from the Romantic Era with a modern twist. The Romantic Era is sincerely one of my most adored Eras of fashion. It is chronicled in fashion history as an era when women decided to slide the neck lines down and allow their shoulders to be kissed by the winds. It was sensual and sexy for that time period and this new style added more curve to the woman’s silhouette. Of course, proceeded by heavy layers of dress or skirt to complete the ever so feminine look, very similar to my top. But since it was 28 degrees outside, layers were important in order to be seasonally graceful. Hence forth, I was buttoned to the neck in this crisp white Asos top, like George Washington. No, I am not wearing riding pants, but I cannot say, I am mad at these BCBG ole faithful leggings I’ve had for years. The leather side panels will have me wearing these until they turn grey. Love them much!

There was something about this ensemble that awakened my artistic creation. This look possesses rhythmic appeal like poetry. I love a beautiful sonnet and yes, I am obsessed with iambic pentameter too. Did you guess it? I was an English major who studied poetry. Perhaps, this is another reason for my love for the Romantic Era. Furthermore, this outfit has a sense of mysterious drama that’s not easily ignored. In this look, they want to know who you are and where you’re going? I answer, ask the blouse. You are #noprisonerofyourbody so walk the runway fiercely and fearlessly. See you next runway!
