What happens when Claire Sulmers, Founder of Fashionbombdaily.com, lists you as Chicago’s Top 10 Fashion “Bomb Bloggers”? Then to add an even bigger reward she invites you to sip and shop with her during her Cocktails with Claire event. OMG the first thought is WHAT TO WEAR! Now let’s put something into perspective, Claire is a fashionista anointed by the fashion gods honey. So me being Shenell, I was definitely on make an impression- kill em mode. This twig fringe dress did that! The few details played a big part in my attraction to this very easy piece. The dress alone was the statement. A dress like this needed no help, you see what I’m saying…. EASY. In addition the short slits on sides were flirty just like me. Pulling my hair back with fringe earrings had me ready to slay.
Fact: With this particular dress we are playing with tint and shade. Shade being black and tint being white, considering that the colors are somewhat bland my beige shoe served as a pop of color.
Here are 4 tips to understanding what colors actually do for an outfit
1. Any deep beige to tan/nudist shoe (including gold and rose gold) adds a highlight to black and white attire
2. A solid or neon shoe adds a juxtapose pop of color to black and white attire
3. A pewter or grey shoe adds balance to a black and white attire
4. A black shoe will add depth and less pop to a black and white attire
Understanding color and color theory is setting you up for fashion success. When factoring in this knowledge it will aid you in pairing the right shoe with your outfit for a flawless combination every time.
Cocktails with Claire was an amazing experience. The setting was nice with a backdrop for selfies/pictures upon entering. The event was broken up into two parts the first, a panel discussion, “Breaking Into Fashion”, the second sipping cocktails and shop with varies vendors. The panelist spoke of their personal experiences with “breaking” into the industry with the core message of staying committed to your brand/product. During the second portion of the event it was so nice to see some familiar faces from Instagram, to mix and mingle and to connect with fellow Chicago bloggers. Of those in attendance many individuals were staff of Empire on Fox {Empire is filmed in Chicago} it was an enjoyable unforgettable experience, I am CHICAGO proud! Having being born and raised in Chicago it was most rewarding to have such a fashion forward event here with Fashionbombdaily. Now on to the shopping…. I of course had to leave with a few things. I scored two pairs of sunnies as well as a dress {haul coming soon}. It was such an honor to meet Claire as well as being recognized for my contribution to fashion as represented amongst the other 9 Bombshells of Chicago. Thank you Fashionbombdaily and Claire. Xoxo
