Proceed with Caution, Industrial Fashion Ahead!

As we cautiously veer into the left lane, lets take a moment to think. What has fashion come to? Utility wear is definitely going from hard at work to blazing the runway. Who would have thought road work inspired wear would continue to evolve as it has. I bought this Off-White belt in March of this year. I took me a while to figure out how I wanted to handle it so to speak. Jeans were an option, a pant suit, and of course leather, but I was trapped somewhere between faux fur and tulle. Mixing hard and soft intrigued my fashion curiosity, so I did it! Wide and fluffy tulle would swallow the belt. Pairing this BCBG skirt with...

Fringe with Benefits

A look, right? Let me say this, I knew I needed to do something with this fringe & I needed to do something with these polka dots. What the heck, put them together and be fabulous. The two pieces expressed chic, sophisticated, and modernly classic. The flapper like fringe is completely classic and vintage, but the pant is totally modern, an 80’s vibe for sure. The combo drives this look to fashion perfection, and the sandals adds a little bow on top while doing so. Now enjoy brunch with hubby, and some “ME” time by going jewelry shopping at your favorite jewelry store. Tips Mix fashion genres, it makes fashion fun This is a jacket that I pinned together to give a top appeal. For...

Glammed Varsity Mascot

About this look. It felt really good going back to having feelings of high school days. This was the look you wear on game day at your 10-year class reunion. All sparkly, and classy, and varsity like, okay? Other than that, I wasn’t so happy with this look. I should have warned you, a moment of honesty was coming. Yes, this is my least favorite look. I liked it in real life, I'm  not a fan of how it delivered in pictures. In addition, I have lost some weight and all of my pieces were too big. Other than the blue here, I was feeling pretty darn blue as well. Oh, another rant, I should have done my part in...

Classic Picasso

Need I explain this look?! If you guys haven’t already discovered, I love old vintage style. I am giving you all the French, vintage, and Picasso vibes wearing my Eloquii top and beret. This top has all the character you need in this look. I actually fell in love with this top, while styling someone else in it. She opt not to buy it, but I was definitely in swipe mode after she took it off. What’s that old saying, “Someone else's trash, is anothers treasure?” She wasn’t exactly throwing it away, but I definitely hit a gold mine. This top is so flexible, what can’t you wear with it?! I decided on these super stretchy stirrup leggings, for the...

Winter Pastels

Hey Girl, hey! So, I have such a love for cold colors in the late Fall and Winter seasons. When beige, creams, and off whites accompany an outfit with light hues of pastels, as a pop of color, it gives me chills. It puts me in the mind frame of mint refreshers. Let’s just say, if WinterFresh had an outfit, this would so be it! What you think? Well other than looking like minty breath, this look was truly a no brainer. Eloquii did me well when they dropped this high-waist fringe skirt in my view. This is nothing but a vintage piece, just made in modern times. Which makes this skirt as timeless as the first rendition of its...

The Premme Factor

Ok, I had a blast wearing this Premme look. It was hard for me to grasp what type of look this was, until I envisioned myself in Brooklyn passing through a crowd of bell bottom wearing and afro picking creatives. Since my initial thought was 70’s, my vision confirmed it. I am digging the funk of this groovy get up! Ya see, even using slang vernacular, got me feeling even more boogie about this outfit representing the 70’s era of fashion. I’ll roll with it. So, in my mind, my home-girl Foxy Brown flew in to see her bestie-me! When we’re together, it’s time to create some Good Times- the black Thelma and Louise honey! What is fun without a...

Forbidden Fruit

Dressed like this, I feel  I have beamed from the confines of my 1800's Victorian home and landed in America, specifically Chicago. The look is so vintage and very old world British, which wasn't intentional, (ig's @joannethescammer voice) honestly, truly. Perhaps my unexpected embark on the Victorian era style sense, bares all the proof that Target is becoming more and more classic within their design layouts. Target's fall fashion naturally takes us back in time, with a modern twist. I say encore! To be completely frank with you, I knew I liked this snake print blouse and faux skirt together, but after styling it, "Like" was an understatement. I am in fashion love! Considering I decided to coordinate the same...

Boldly Chic by Fe Noel

I ran across Fe Noel on Instagram and immediately fell in love with her garments! If you don't know FeNoel head to her website and get acquainted, she's so bomb! If you know me you know that I love supporting indie designers by adding them to my closet (she literally has something for everybody and then some). I love that Fe Noel will custom make your desired size although sizes range from xs to xl. There is an option for custom by simply putting in your measurements.  Now let's dive into the deets of this classic. The weight of this piece is solid, the linen is thick, but not hot and Fe Noel cut no corners when it came to the...

How To Mix Prints Like A Pro!

Today's post is not exactly about how amazing I look in this outfit or even where I wore it to impress. I'll save you those details. Instead, I want to teach you the logic behind mixing prints. Hopefully, this will make your life a little easier and your print mixing fashionably approved. Print mixing falls on a continuum of "FABBED IT" or "TRIED IT" scale. Follow these steps to "FAB IT." Before we jump into the steps, first comprehend my analogical approach. The best way to get you to see print, is to relate it to volume. I know-crazy, right? Trust me. I'm going to break volume up into three sounds: loud, medium, and low. Now let's get into it. A....

A New Day with Gucci

I was devastated when I read Merona and Mossimo would no longer be a brand name for Target. I just knew the Victoria Beckham collection was the last collection I’d purchase. After being introduced to Target's new designers, I’m glad to say my devastation was yesterday’s news and cheers to “A New Day”. Target has done a great job up-ing the fashion racks with their new designer brand, A New Day. The collection launched August 27th and I’m far from disappointed. I have to admit the collection is definitely tailored to prim and proper, framed with a high end appeal and enhanced with details like never before. I’m actually feeling the vibes of Tar-zhaay at its best. Target who? Which leads me to...
