Rhythm In The Mix

It’s that moment you’re strolling on Instagram and see an item YOU GOTTA HAVE! You have no earthly idea exactly what you’re gonna do with it but whatever it is, it needs to be epic. Do you feel me right now? Girl, these slacks are it! When I got home, I laid them out on my bed for 4 or 5 days. I typically do this to allow myself to see what the garment-any garment, is asking me to do with it. "What you want to do with a particular garment never trumps what the garment calls for". Although, I had not yet known what other garments would accompany such an in-your-face type of pattern, by day 3, at minimum,...

Caramel Latte-Double Shot

Do you see this look RIGHT HERE?! When my insta-bestie, Summar suggested we do a cream and chocolate ensemble, I honestly didn’t expect the wardrobing to present so distinct and polished. The styling is blazing with boss vibes and richness. If no other fit I’ve worn suggests lifestyle, this look undoubtedly does! How did I execute such an elevated outfit? For starters, I really wanted the outfit to deliver more cream-latte than coffee or mocha, because cream, winter white, and beige are just so gorgeous during the winter season. I think the last time I actually embarked on a look like this was two or three years ago. That said, with my second attempt to go winter white, I did not...

Classic Grandeur

Look girl, did you know polka dots pranced itself into the fashion world during the late Victorian era? Then in the 1920s it strutted itself into the fashion scene, making a loud fuss. Not to toot my own horn (uh-oh did you hear that lol), but I'd swear I was the creator of the pattern. These polka dots are hitting me like a second skin, sweetie. I love my co-ord set from Halogen. Classic attire promises to satisfy a cinched but curved silhouette. In essence, empire waist dresses, waist length tops, and pencil or swing skirts, in particular, were a style structure that was meant to do what girdles did in the 16 to late 1800s- and even in today’s...

Slippin Back In

Yes, I am totally blowing the dust off this blog, lol! Girl, I’ve missed you. I thank you for sticking around in my absence. Your loyalty is real and most appreciated. With all that has happened in the world you are still connecting. That’s not easy to do. So many people isolate in times like these. As a believer, I know God is gracious despite the horrific challenges 2020 has offered us. I think this year has shown our resilience and ability to press through as individuals and collectively. We are stronger than we think. So many of you dm’d me just to check on my well-being. Having a tribe like you reminds me that we are in this together,...

Laudi Vidni x SoShenell

Hey Girl! Yes, it has been a minute, no doubt. In my absence, you have been on my mind. I am making a few shifts that I can’t explain right now. Sometimes when waiting on things to manifest, you have to move in silence as it is still fragile. In essence, my neglect is temporary, I will be back. So now, I have had a few chances to actually put on clothes aside from the weekly black uniform needed for work. This outfit is one I had to share. I did a collab with a contemporary luxury line here in Chicago, Laudi Vidni, it means individual spelled backward. That is crazy dope, right? They gifted me this amazing organic leather bag...

5th Blogiversary

Wow 5 years and a sweet one it's been. I've learned so much in this blogosphere, some sweet and some bitter. I just smile at how I've grown in my way of thinking as blogger. Let's go down memory lane. I remember when I became a blogger I took hours gathering boggers who I respected greatly and enjoyed either their sense of fashion or how they appeared to be so boss via social media. I gathered emails to introduce myself. The intro went something like this. "Hello, my name is Shenell, I am the founder of plus fashion blog Shenell Dujour (my blog name at the time). I believe plus women should claim plus authority and one of the ways I...

Feline & Fringe

I bought this skirt in spring and knew it would be the center of attention no matter what I paired it with. I toggled and tarried so long to find the perfect tee, before I knew it, it was the middle of fall. At that point I was at ground zero again. Going through my closet looking for something to wear, I came across my skirt and thought, ya know, I still see myself wearing this skirt uber casual- effortlessly casual.  I jumped on the computer and started looking for sweaters or even sweatshirts. Lets just say, me and the leopard saw eye to eye in that jungle. Who said felines can't get along? Anywho, this outfit took the liberty...

Color Block File13

Coffee anyone? Since I’m not a coffee drinker, I’m glad to say this fit are my pumps of espresso. The hot pink, orange, & fuchsia (purple-ish pink) are just bouncing off the walls. With that being said, I don’t think you can look at office wear the same ever again, we’re even Color Blocking File 13. About the Fit This piece was made to ride along the curves for sure. The custom fit laid on my body so well it had me falling in love with myself all over again. Considering how clingy it is, I made sure to wear my tightest fitting girdle to smooth my midsection & lift my lower tummy. Did we just bring sexy back to the office? About the...

Glammed Varsity Mascot

About this look. It felt really good going back to having feelings of high school days. This was the look you wear on game day at your 10-year class reunion. All sparkly, and classy, and varsity like, okay? Other than that, I wasn’t so happy with this look. I should have warned you, a moment of honesty was coming. Yes, this is my least favorite look. I liked it in real life, I'm  not a fan of how it delivered in pictures. In addition, I have lost some weight and all of my pieces were too big. Other than the blue here, I was feeling pretty darn blue as well. Oh, another rant, I should have done my part in...
