Pretty Woman… Big Mistake. Big. Huge

I totally had to borrow those words from Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (one of my favorite movies). Christian Siriano amazed me yet again, with his poised classics.  All I can say is, it'll be a big mistake if he lets it end here. I must admit I owned nothing this classic until now! As you know this girl is all about details, and apparently Siriano is too. Do you see this over sized collar, scooping decollete and the frontal draping of this wrap dress? If this isn't 50s swing I don't know what is. This look is so soft and feminine yet powerful and distinct. Shenell who...

Crossing the Vest

Christian Siriano completely gets the body of a plus size gem. Shopping the Christian Siriano for Lane Bryant collection pulled me into a world of luxury, just what a girl like me looks for. The collection was nothing shy of Julia Roberts, Pretty Woman and Jackie O. The garments were definitely role catchers.  I swear as soon as I tried them on I instantly turned into another persona- Shenell, who? Call me She-neilah lol. Okay I admit I love when people give me that confused who she think she is look, which I got a lot of in my royal blue faux fur vest. Smh, I marvel at the fierceness of this vest, look how daring and demanding it is....

Green Bean

Ain't nothing green about me but this outfit and Lord knows that was hard to fathom. So my struggle with this look was putting brown green and olive green together. Putting them beside each other just seemed so off. Eventually I decided ya know just-do-it, throw perfect out of the window and make it do what it do. I'm glad I did because this sexy trendy look is one of my favorite looks. I don't do too many sexy flirty looks absent of a pinch of innocence, but this time innocent was put to rest. The split in my skirt is fiery and sassy, just like me. Coupled with my jacket it added a chicness and mystery to it, how...

Autumn’s Bestie Summer

Hey guys,I'm so glad the blog is up and running again. As you know, although we were fresh into Autumn, I wasn't exactly ready to let go of all my summer brightness. I just had to binge on bright colors once more. Yeah, this was suppose to be a three part series but it ended up being two because the weather totally flipped on me. I swear it went from 0 to 100 real quick, hence causing this series to be shortened. This series is all about bright loud vibrant colors. Clearly I decided to go with denim as it is season transitional. The blue denim was my fave, all the shades of blue and my tweed jacket was what I...

Shenell with Ashley Nell Tipton… JCP

Collaborating with JCPenney was a treat and having the opportunity to style Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+ was an even bigger treat. Shopping the collection I was so amazed with all the super cute pieces the collection had to offer, it gave me an immediate fashion adrenaline rush! As you know I pride myself on being the curvy blogger who actually style my garments to look different from the rest. Since Ashley's pieces had me all in my zone I shied away from coupling pieces (pieces that had a match to them). I practically jumped out of my pumps when I spotted this freaking adorable fuschia pink lipstick printed top. I have to say I was all in my girlie...

Class Act

To take a picture is one thing, but when your pictures tell a story, its whole different concept. Well I hope these pictures tell my love for the 1940s-1960s era. That era was prim and proper, lady like, sexy, and fun. Those adjectives are exactly what I saw in the asymmetrical Rachel Roy dress. Once again Rachel spoils us with details. Short in the back, long angled front, with a point aimed to fashionably kill. The print is stark and mysterious with such warm tones, perfect for Fall. This cutie is all about flexibility. I love when a dress gives you dress up or down options. Speaking of flexibility the fit is so relaxed and easy. The jersey cotton material...

Chi in Brooklyn

First of all you already know I am a Chicagoan from the core of my heart. Ain't no city like my city, I'm just sayin ya heard hahaha. However, I can't deny I make Brooklyn look real good in this hella dope super chic-fem tee. I'm sure Rachel Roy agrees. Keeping my street chic trend live, wasn't that hard, but the challenge was to be clever about it. I wasn't interested in dressing my tee down, just not the #mood, but when I spotted this Rachel Roy woven fitted skirt, I knew I'd be nothing shy of Dougie Fresh. I'd like to think, if girls had a hood of our own, chicks would be dressed just like this, what you...

Fabulous Gracia

That moment you know fabulous when you see it. I'd have to say this was one of my moments! The drama Akira is giving with this Gracia top is freaking amazing. Crop top and bat sleeves =genius. I simply love how the crop in the front drives the eye straight to the elongation of the blouse. The distinction is remarkable. Any blouse that catches a daze from on lookers who are inwardly wondering where did she get her top, is a must have. What can I say, its a statement piece that evolves with trend. Honestly, I wasn't exactly sure how I needed to style this girlie- jeans-no, shorts-not quite, then there was Rachel Roy. Rachel Roy's Aztec pencil skirt...
